A Treatment Guide for a Host of Illnesses

Many of the diseases do warrant as much support and understanding from those close to the patient as the professional intervention we expect from the experts. Sometimes such additional attention may be required for a few days or weeks. But for some more unfortunate maladies such time-span may extend even for years. The idea of this article is to provide a basic informative set of guidelines for a group of illnesses listed below.

HDD (Hyper Deficit Disorder)

If your child is diagnosed as suffering from HDD, remember the most important source of your strength-Positive Attitude. Take up regular exercise for the child as the physical activity enhances the levels of those chemicals in the brain that improve focus and attention. Get the child better sleep. Finally, remember the importance of the positive strokes in accelerating the child’s improvement.

Anorexia

Taking anorexia out of your system is a multi-step process:

  1. Find professional help
  2. Return to your healthy and acceptable weight
  3. Begin to eat regularly and more

Broken Bones

  • If the part of the foot or hand at the end of the wounded extremity is cold or has turned blue, call 911 without losing a second!
  • Do not try to force-change the angle of extremity, but use soft padding to avoid its movements. However, if needed/possible, raise the extremity to lessen the swelling.
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen/naproxen) may help reduce the pain.

Burns

  • If the burns are of third degree type or severe second degree type, immediate hospital care is recommended.
  • Immediate cooling decreases burn depth and pain. But avoid uncontrolled cooling.
  • Wound cleaning and proper dressing is important in fast recovery.
  • Intravenous antibiotics enhance the recovery of severe burn cases.
  • While simple analgesics may be used for pain management in case of first degree burns, a local anesthetic may help in the case of second degree burns.

Cancer (Palliative care)

  • Palliative care is offered essentially to enhance the quality of life of patients
  • It addresses various issues that are connected to cancer such as at the physical, emotional, practical and spiritual levels.
  • Such care can be provided at any point of time during the patient’s experience with the disease.
  • Palliative care services are normally added to the health insurance schemes.

Mental Illness

According to the experts, any person irrespective of his/her age, gender, ethnicity or economic status, has the potential to have mental health problems. Some of the common mental illnesses include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and schizophrenia disorders. However, by improving the lifestyle that includes better diet, lower consumption of alcohol, regular exercise and proper sleep, the potential to lead to better mental health is more.

Stroke

Some of the symptoms of stroke are:

  • Arm or leg or both become weak
  • Facial muscles become weak
  • Slurred speech
  • Lack of coordination
  • Dizziness, headache and vision problems
  • Becoming unconscious

If you notice these symptoms in any one nearby, call 911.

Please remember that the guidelines given in this article are not to be taken in lieu of professional medical help. The suggestions here, on the contrary, are complementary to the ongoing medical treatment.
